Getting ready for Halloween

This is the coffin that Ryan and I made over the weekend. He's been talking about wanting to make one for the last few years...I'm not sure what that means. When I went to the hardware store for supplies, the clerk asked me if I needed help. I explained to her that I was looking for paint and hinges for a coffin that I was building for my boy. With a look of sympathy, she then clasped her hands to her chest and said that she was very sorry to hear that.

We went to a dinner party last night, and the hosts had hired a caricaturist to draw everyone. Dude, when was the last time that happened to you at a dinner party? The artist had been doing it for 25 years, and it was great to watch him work. A possible career path for you, Ryan!

The hostess is in Murray's class--she and her husband were in the food business, but they got out and she wanted to do something "serious"--since when is food not serious? Grub and booze were both excellent, particularly the homemade limoncello.

I was poking around on Flickr, looking for photos of the Village to post, and found this set. The freaky thing is, though I don't know the photographer at all, I know one of the people featured in that set! Here's another set--I was glad to see a dog in the photos, maybe there's hope for Rex after all.
