I realize that Charlotte is not as engaging of a pet as a cute little dog, but this is a closeup of her and you can see the golden filaments. Like Wilbur I was amazed watching her consume a bug almost as large as she is. Don likes the fact that she doesn't cost anything. Can you see her legs?

What kind of spider is that?
She looks like a "golden silk orb weaver" according to the sites that I looked up. She does have some filaments that are a golden color, but not all of her web reflects yellow in the sun. But she changes her color from bright yellow to an orange and has similar spots on her abdomen as the one on the website.
